Private Sector Reaches Mandatory Employment Rate for Persons with Disabilities for the First Time
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that Korea’s overall employment rate for Persons with Disabilities reached 3.27% in 2025, with the number of employees with disabilities increasing to 309,846.
Most notably, private companies achieved the mandatory employment rate of 3.1% for the first time since the system was introduced in 1991. Private-sector businesses accounted for 9,507 of the 11,192 newly employed workers with disabilities, leading the overall growth in employment.
Large corporations with more than 1,000 employees also showed steady improvement, recording a 3.06% employment rate. The government plans to strengthen support for public institutions and small businesses while promoting inclusive and diverse employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
